Home -> R/C Airplanes -> Bungee I built this PVC pedal launcher from instructions on the following website. http://www.yourzagi.com/launcher/ There was alot of discussion about this launcher on the eZone, and an article had been written about it in the September 2001 issue of S&E Modeler magazine. It was relatively inexpensive to build, and required almost no-time to complete. Obtaining the parts from Home Depot took longer than actually constructing it.
I contructed my initial bungee by taking an old High-Start and cutting a 30' length of tubing off of it, and attaching it to a screw-in dog stake. I didn't do much testing before attempting a launch. I should have....WOW....what a mistake. My brand new Kevin Cox F-18 was totally destroyed from the failed launch.
I threw away the high-start tubing, and went to some good, quality, 3/8" mandrel dipped latex I obtained from Aerofoam called a Hose Monster Bungee.
This stuff works excellent. I have had many successful launches from this bungee system. Here are some clips from my video library of the first successful launches of both my Twinjet as well as my new Kevin Cox F-18 off the bungee:
